Susie Young is a versatile vocalist, musician and music teacher, currently based in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, having recently moved back home from London. Susie’s other London-based work included regular appearances on the special voyages of the Venice Simplon Orient-Express, work as an assistant director for Ragz Theatre Company and teaching in schools and homes across London.
Susie has performed as a soloist across the UK in many prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and is due to make her debut appearance at Glasgow City Halls in June 2007. Closer to home, Susie is no stranger to the audiences of Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and her numerous radio and TV solo appearances have included singing live on BBC NI, RTE, BBC Radio 4, Downtown Radio and for the George Jones show on BBC Radio Ulster. She also worked as a vocal producer on GettyMusic's children's album, 'Songs that Jesus Said', and has experience working as a session singer for both GettyMusic and Kingsway Music.
Susie graduated from the London College of Music in 2004, receiving first class honours in music performance, the Michael James Prize for Best Singer and the Roy Henderson award for Music Theatre. At the LCM, she studied voice with Paul Smith and Beverley Mills and acting with Fraser Grant. Susie has worked extensively for New Irish Arts, not only as a soloist, but also as a founder member of the New Irish Players and has recently taken over creative responsibility for the New Irish Youth Choir. Susie's own choral experience has included being a member of the Ulster Youth Choir, LCM and New Irish Chamber Choirs, in addition to many appearances with the Kingston Chamber Singers.
